That Ideal Performance

My ideal performance would be to host a telethon to benefit all gay and lesbian youth centers across the country. Not only to educate the youth on issues in the community but to also educate those who are not gay and lesbian and to teach acceptance of all!

With the recent tragedy of the death of Lawrence King, this has been on my mind a lot. I think it’s important to help educate the youth in acceptance as well as many issues we face in the gay community, health issues being a huge factor. Not only would it be educational but it would also give the youth someone to look up to that’s in the community and not just an action hero.

So the night would go like this! My co-host for this would be the incredible Fred Schneider from the B-52’s whom I’ve looked up to and idoled (sp?) for many years now. Of course we’d also have the rest of the band and I’d fight with them all for the spotlight and beat a bitch down so I can sing Love Shack with Fred. : )

I would also like to have all performers that have in one way or another inspired me, starting with Ellen DeGeneres, who I feel has really helped in the acceptance movement. Other performers I’d love there are comedian Tony Tripoli, very funny and HOT, the Kinsey Sicks, a hilarious dragappella group, Cyndi Lauper, who is doing a great deal with her True Colors tour, Margaret Cho, funny ass bitch!!!, the amazing Judy Tenuta, been a fan of hers for as long as I can remember, Chelsea Handler, funny funny funny!!, Kristen Chenoweth, who will always be Galinda to me, and of course, the divine miss M, Bette Midler! There are sooooo many others but that’s the tip of who I admire currently.

If I were able to bring a couple people back from the heaven’s for an evening, I would pull down from the sky, Gilda Radner, Madeline Kahn, and Phil Hartman! All of whom I feel were taken too soon from us.

Now, where I’d like to have this event is here in the great state of Colorado at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. If you’ve never been there or seen a show there, it should be on your before you die list! Trust me.

I’d like to keep the evening light as well and not to preachy. We seem to get way too caught up in preachy and are told daily what to do, so let’s just have a fun entertaining evening. We’d start off early so the youth can enjoy, but then come curfew or bedtime, the fun can really begin.

I would also invite each and every performer, racer and voter from this site and expect you to tell at least one other person about the event.

and to be sure that everyone knows this event is happening, I'd invite Oprah, cause everyone listens to Oprah!

and lastly, I'd love to resurrect Match Game! was always my fave game show.
